Thanks for the heads-up Nunnster. I just caught the episode. How bizarre! It was the 12th season premiere of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" the episode was called 73 Seconds. Here's what I read about the sub plot you are referring to: "Shizu has a unique erotic specialty: she has sex with her pet octopus during live shows to entertain tentacle fetishists. In the hotel tram with her octopus Claude in her handbag, Shizu flees the scene after the shootout ends, dropping Claude in the process. Tracked down by the detectives at work, she's very worried about Claude, and has no idea that he died in the chaotic aftermath..."

Thanks to my subscription to LLP, I was able to solve the mystery in the most recent episode of CSI Las Vegas, well before the conclusion. http://www.csinews.tk/

An asian woman (who specializes in Octopus foreplay) was carrying the animal in her purse onto the tram………the octopus of course escaped only to be SHOT. That poor octopus did not even know what hit him literally as he tried to flee for his life by biting another tram patron. At least the Asian woman showed some regret by lovingly referring to him as Claude.
