Pikachu, an icon of Japanese culture, is violated at the 2007 Pokémon Festa as fans pull and penetrate his (or should I say her) entrance flap playing peek-a-boo into an inflatable Pikachu. If you have ever wondered where Pikachu babies come from, wonder no more.

Pikachu are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon. They are small, mouse-like creatures who are often regarded as the official mascot of the Pokémon media franchise.

Pikachu, designed by Ken Sugimori, are an electric-type of Pokémon and were created around the concept of electricity. Their tails are shaped like a lightning bolt and the red circles on their cheeks are small electric sacs that can release lightning-based attacks.

The name ‘Pikachu’ is a portmanteau which blends two Japanese words. ‘Pikapika’, being the Japanese onomatopoeia for crackling electricity, and ‘chū’, which is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a mouse’s squeak.
